About SPAF

SPAF programming is designed advance clinical science and enhance knowledge of electrophysiologists, interventional cardiologists, general cardiologists, stroke neurologists, surgeons, primary care physicians, and other physicians and associated healthcare professionals with an interest in the management of stroke in AF patients.

Introduction

Introduction

Prevention of thromboembolic complications in atrial fibrillation remains a clinical challenge. As the left atrial appendage (LAA) is the most common source of cardioembolic strokes, it is imperative to develop clinical and procedural strategies to exclude the LAA to mitigate systemic thromboembolism, and employ evidence-based diagnostic approaches and therapeutic stroke prophylaxis strategies to achieve optimal outcomes in patients at a heighted risk systemic thromboembolism.

In an effort to successfully bridge knowledge gaps, remove barriers, improve professional competence, performance, and patient outcomes; Stroke Prevention in Atrial Fibrillation (SPAF) educational initiatives are disseminated through an array educational platforms that feature various learning methodologies, which assess rationale and best practices, optimal clinical decision-making strategies, as well as reviews on the impact of outcomes data and latest research results.

In-depth coverage is offered across the spectrum of research and clinical practice to clinicians and industry professionals, so they are kept up-to-date about innovations in this ever-evolving field, through webinars, virtual symposia, live conferences, and virtual case theaters.

The SPAF Advisory Board/Planning Committee strives to develop and advocate education that enhances the clinical knowledge of healthcare professionals so they may deliver care that improves the quality of life for AF patients.

The ultimate objective of SPAF educational programming is to advance the development and use of safe and effective treatments in patients at risk for systemic thromboembolism.
