Objectives & Target Audience

Target Audience

This activity has been developed to meet the educational needs of electrophysiologists, cardiologists, surgeons, and other physicians and associated healthcare professionals with an interest in the management of stroke in AF patients.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the role of the LAA in AF-related strokes.
  • Evaluate pharmacological and interventional therapeutic approaches for stroke prophylaxis in AF.
  • Examine randomized clinical trial and registry data.
  • Review appropriate NOACC and LAA closure patient selection criteria.
  • Assess the cost-effectiveness of LAA closure therapy.
  • Evaluate optimal LAA closure clinical decision making strategies and procedural approaches.
  • Examine therapeutic approaches for stroke prevention post catheter ablation for paroxysmal AF.
  • Review antiarrhythmic effects of LAA exclusion.

Disclaimer

This activity is designed to serve as a learning experience on evaluating optimal evidence-based treatment approaches for stroke prophylaxis in Atrial Fibrillation patients, and is not accredited for continuing medical education credits.
