Introduction

This dynamic, interactive, and highly educational webinar has been designed to enhance the learning experience and professional growth for physicians, fellows and staff of all levels. Prof. Dr. med. Johann Christoph Geller and Dr. Santi Raffa share their experiences with new EP technologies, including initial experiences with Advisor™ HD Grid Mapping Catheter, Sensor Enabled™, patients treated, results, and case reviews which illustrate the benefits of Advisor™ HD Grid Mapping Catheter, Sensor Enabled™ in PVI ablation.

The faculty also assess the evolution of Advisor™ HD Grid Mapping Catheter, Sensor Enabled™ use, and experiences adopting new technology, including recommendations of how electrophysiologists can effectively implement new technologies within their daily clinical practice.

Faculty Bios

Prof. Dr. med. Johann Christoph Geller was born in Bonn on December 1st 1959.  After attending Medical School at the University in Bonn, Germany, and Basel, Switzerland from 1978-1985, he did his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine and his Fellowship in Cardiology from 1985-1991 at University Hospitals in Bonn.

From 1991-1993, he was a postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Pharmacology, College of Physicians & Surgeons at Columbia University in New York, NY, and from 1993-1995, he was a  Fellow in Cardiac Electrophysiology at University Hospitals at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. From 1995-2004 he was an attending physician and Director of  Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Division of Cardiology at Otto-von-Guericke-University in Magdeburg. Since 2004 he is Director of the Arrhythmia Section and Division of Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Zentralklinik in Bad Berka, and he is Professor of Medicine at Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg.

Dr. Santi Raffa graduated from the Medical School of the University of Messina (Italy) in 2000, and accomplished his training in Cardiology at the University Hospitals in Messina and in Magdeburg (Germany). In 2004 he became board certified cardiologist at the University of Messina. In the last year of training, following the increasing interest in electrocardiography and cardiac arrhythmias fostered by his mentor Prof. Giuseppe Oreto; Dr. Santi Raffa started a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the University Hospital in Magdeburg under the supervision of Prof. Helmut Klein.

The following 14 months in Magdeburg were characterized by a highly stimulating atmosphere. Under the guidance of Prof. Christoph Geller, Prof. Angelo Auricchio and Prof. Sven Reek, Dr. Santi Raffa had the opportunity to work on research projects and contribute to the clinical activity in the fields of invasive cardiac electrophysiology and cardiac resynchronization therapy. In 2005, following Prof. Christoph Geller, Dr. Santi Raffa moved to Zentralklinik Bad Berka, where he continued his fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology, and in 2008, he became attending physician of the Cardiac Arrhythmias Department. In 2009 he completed a PhD program in Cardiovascular Imaging at the University of Messina. In 2018 Dr. Santi Raffa was appointed as leading attending physician of the Cardiac Arrhythmias Department at Zentralklinik Bad Berka. Dr. Santi Raffa’s interest is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, specifically on invasive cardiac electrophysiology and catheter ablation. Cardiac pacing and cardiac imaging are his secondary interest areas.
